A catastrophic earthquake has devastated Portugal leaving the nation’s infrastructure in ruins just days before its scheduled presidential election. The disaster, one of the worst in the country’s history, has overwhelmed emergency response teams, forcing the sitting president to make a desperate plea for international aid.

In an emotional display, Portugal’s president traveled to the United States Agency for International Development, sobbing profusely as she begged for assistance. The destruction has rendered Portuguese emergency workers virtually powerless, as hospitals, roads, and communication networks have been demolished.

A liaison from the United Kingdom has introduced the Huzz Resolution, a plan aimed at maintaining democratic stability while addressing the dire humanitarian crisis. The resolution proposes the continuation of the presidential election through mobile voting systems deployed across the country, the urgent training of new emergency responders, employing aid workers from the European Union and the United Kingdom to provide medical and humanitarian services. To ensure efficient a distribution the resolution also recommends using United States military vehicles to navigate the devastated areas.

As Portugal grapples with this unprecedented disaster, the fate of its presidential election and the nation’s recovery, now hinges on rapid international cooperation and a successful implementation of policy.
