Committees

Space, Science, and Technology

Dear Representatives,

Welcome to Harvard Model Congress 2017! My name is Jill Steinman and I am looking forward to chairing the House Committee on Space, Science and Technology this year.

As part of this committee, you will have the chance to probe some of the most exciting and critical areas of the rapidly changing scientific landscape. This year, Space, Science, and Technology will be debating genetic engineering and private space travel. As representatives in this committee, you will grapple with maintaining a crucial balance between promoting scientific advancement and pursuing policies that may benefit the U.S.

Beyond committee, HMC will be an awesome opportunity to learn some more about the legislative process and meet some cool people from across the country who share your passion for politics. You will have the opportunity to learn from your peers and broaden and question your own perspective. You will also get to explore Boston and the Harvard campus! I hope that your HMC experience will leave you with tons of wonderful memories and friends.

As your chair, I am excited to make your HMC experience both intellectually stimulating and a ton of fun!

If you have any questions or just want to introduce yourself before committee, I encourage you to reach out and email me. I am happy to talk about the committee, Congress, current events, the topics, procedure, or HMC in general. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

I look forward to meeting all of you in person in February!

Best,

Jill Steinman
