Welcome to the Lobbyist Committee of Harvard Model Congress 2012! As your chairs, we look forward to working with you, and we are excited about what promises to be a great conference of meaningful argument, debate, and discussion. Here is a little more information about us!
Madelaine Boyd is a senior from New York concentrating in Computer Science with a citation in Mandarin Chinese. She spent a semester studying in Hong Kong and travelling around Southeast Asia. In her days at Hackley High School, she was twice a delegate at HMC, including a conference spent as a lobbyist, just like you! Maddie is also involved in the Europe and Asia HMC conferences. She loves running, cooking, and contemporary art.
Alan Montelongo is a sophomore at Harvard, concentrating in English. He is from Corpus Christi, Texas (look it up to see how lame it is). This is Alan’s second year staffing HMC as a Lobbyist, and he lives and breathes for HMC. Alan is a bit of a fan of the Spurs (no jokes please). He likes candy a lot, so his staffers can expect some ‒ but not without a little work. Enthusiasm is key! Le’go.
Marilyn Wang is a sophomore at Harvard concentrating in Economics and Government. Besides participating in Harvard Model Congress, she is also a member of the Harvard Ballroom Dance Team, and she works for the Harvard College Consulting Group. Marilyn really likes Twixes, hanging out with friends, and reading random news articles. She is very excited to be working on her second HMC Boston conference!
Please take some time before the conference to research your lobbyist group and prepare for your role at the conference. We can assure you that the quality of your HMC experience is directly correlated with the amount of time you spend preparing beforehand as well as the extent to which you participate once you arrive. Your chairs are definitely here to help, so please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions. See you in February!
Sincerely,
