Welcome to the Historical Committee, the best committee in HMC. We are thrilled to be working with you. We will be doing a crisis committee simulating the First Crusade, giving you the chance to reshape history. As your committee chairs, we are passionate about the discipline of history and have significant experience in Model Congress. Let us take a moment to introduce ourselves.
Wyatt Troia is a sophomore in Winthrop House hailing from the great city of Omaha, Nebraska. He is looking forward to his second year at HMC Boston this February, having served as a Junior Staffer last year. Wyatt writes for the Crimson Editorial Board, liaisons at the IOP, and is on the Leadership Team of LIFT-Cambridge. If Wyatt had to be any Supreme Court justice, past or present, he would be John “The Man” Marshall.
Violet Li is a sophomore in Pforzheimer House, concentrating in History, and she is very excited to participate in her second year of Harvard Model Congress. In addition to HMC, Violet is a dancer on the Harvard Ballroom Dance Team and volunteers with the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter. In her spare time, Violet enjoys long walks on the beach (of Lake Erie) and romantic candlelit dinners. Just kidding! She watches Grey’s Anatomy and Friends. Lots of Friends.
This simulation is designed for dedicated delegates with a strong interest in history. This committee, by its nature, requires that delegates be outspoken, speak thoughtfully, and have strong interpersonal skills. Delegates will be expected to put in time researching the High Middle Ages and learning more about the First Crusade before the conference. Delegates who have put time into outside research will be better prepared for crises and the fast pace of committee debate. All in all, the better prepared you are, the more you will gain from the conference experience.
If you have any questions about the structure of the committee, how to prepare for the simulation, or if you just want to chat, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
