Welcome to the Group of Twenty! The G-20 is formed by the world’s nineteen largest economies—Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States—plus the European Union. In addition, representatives of global economic institutions join the G-20 for their major conference. The group provides a forum for the world’s most advanced and emerging economies in order to promote meaningful and effective economic development. Now that you know about your committee’s many roles, here is some information about your chair.
My name is Andrew Sudler and I am a sophomore at Harvard, pursuing a concentration in the field of psychology with a secondary concentration in global health & health policy. In addition to Harvard Model Congress, I am also involved with the Harvard Democrats. I have staffed both the HMC San Francisco and Boston conferences, and this year he will serve as the Executive Assistant to the Director of Programs for Harvard Model Congress San Francisco 2012.
You now belong to a circle of the world’s most powerful and important decision makers, and the decisions you make will impact not only your particular country, but also the global community! Thus, make sure to thoroughly research the topics under debate and your particular perspectives on global economic development. Any argument you make will be crucial in the resolution of a worldwide crisis, so be certain that your proposals are well-researched and supported with evidence. You and your peers will devise policy recommendations and implementation strategies for major economic situations, so prepare to bring your worldly perspectives to the table. It is time to read the briefings, delve deep into your research, contact your delegate partner, and draft policy proposals. I look forward to meeting you at Harvard Model Congress 2012!
Let me know how I can be of help in the coming months.
Sincerely,
