Election 2012

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to Harvard Model Congress 2012 and its newest, most exciting program: Election 2012!  As members, you will experience a full simulation of the presidential campaigning process.  Your roles as political advisors, speechwriters, liaisons, and even the candidates themselves will be pivotal in the success of each of the campaigns. The committee will leave no committee untouched, and your teams work to secure votes in the Senate, House, and all of HMC’s Special Programs committees.  You and your team will be expected to engineer a campaign that is realistic, high-energy, and relevant to the important issues of today.

The two of us will serve as your chairs this year, helping you to navigate the frenzy that is a conference-wide presidential campaign.  Here’s a little bit about us.

David Manella is a sophomore concentrating in government originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Currently, he is producing This is Our Youth, a play to go up in Harvard’s Adam Pool Theatre in the fall.  This past summer, David interned for his Congresswoman in Washington, DC.  In his free time, David enjoys eating American food, watching sitcoms, and calling his mother.  David could not possibly be more excited about winning the White House in 2012.

Imeime Umana is a sophomore residing in the glorious and supreme Lowell House at Harvard.  She plans on concentrating in Government, and she is deeply involved at the Institute of Politics on campus.  Last summer, Imeime worked at a political consulting firm in Washington, DC.  She looks forward to certain victory during the presidential election of 2012.

The Election program occurs only once every four years, and we want you all to gear up for what will be a thrill-ride of a conference.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.  Otherwise, get ready to campaign hard, gather up votes, and win an election.

Sincerely,

David Manella
Imeime Umana
