Welcome to District Court! During the conference you’ll have the opportunity to try cases as an attorney, deliver testimony as a witness, and weigh the facts presented to you as a juror. District Court will teach you about the law, polish your presentation skills, and be an experience you will never forget! We cannot wait to meet you, but in the meantime, here’s a little bit about us.
Jean-Paul Jacquet is a senior in Winthrop House studying social theory and government. In addition to his work with Harvard Model Congress, he is the training director for the mock trial team and is sporadically involved with the Taekwondo team. He enjoys reading, running and spending time with friends. In his final year at Harvard, Jean-Paul is very excited to be continuing work with District Court, and he is looking forward to a fantastic 2012 conference!
Sean Ouellette is a senior in Cabot House studying History and Literature. He went to high school in Peabody, Massachusetts, where he ran cross-country and track for 4 years. In college, he enjoys running, procrastinating on Hulu, and participating in fake courtroom activities. This will be his 3rd year doing HMC.
Georgia is a junior in Winthrop House concentrating in Social Studies. A native New Yorker, she has spent the last two years memorizing the 50 states at the prompting of her mid-Western and Southern roommates. At school, she is an active member of the mock trial team, works as a writing center tutor, and writes for the Harvard Advocate. She enjoys feeding people homemade Greek goodies and cracking Inception jokes.
Again, we’re very excited to start working with you to make the District Court experience great. A large part of this experience will require your preparation before the conference. We strongly encourage you to spend the upcoming months preparing your arguments and testimony as well as developing creative case theories.
