Welcome to Harvard Model Congress Boston 2017 and to the National Economic Council! As your committee chairs this year, we hope you are as excited as we are to fix the entire U.S. economy over the course of one weekend. (Just kidding.) While we won’t be able to address every issue facing the economy today, as members of the NEC it is your job to advise the president on how to spur economic growth and put the nation on a swift, responsible path towards economic prosperity. Though this path won’t always be an easy one, we are confident that your preparation for the conference will leave you well equipped to tackle any obstacles that stand in your way.
Maybe you’ve been to HMC before, or maybe you’re making your first trip to Boston; either way, prepare yourself for three fun and exhausting days of getting to know your fellow delegates, debating some of today’s most pressing economic issues, and crafting innovative economic policies to address them. The conference is not only a great way to meet students from other schools who share a passion for civics, but also an opportunity to cultivate your own perspective on American government. Expect to learn the ins and outs of the United States economy, become a much better public speaker, and form friendships that may very well last years into the future.
Until then, feel free to email us with any questions you may have about briefing topics or research requirements. (Please don’t hesitate to do this!) Make sure to keep an eye on current events, and always be on the lookout for developments related to the topics we’ll be discussing!
All the best,
Max Liebeskind and Claire Chen
