Energy and Commerce

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to Harvard Model Congress 2012!  This year’s conference will take place from Thursday, February 23 to Sunday, February 26, 2012, at the Sheraton in downtown Boston.

As co-senior staffers for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, we would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves.  Rosario is a junior in Cabot House studying Neurobiology with a secondary in Global Health and Health Policy.  She has been a part of Harvard Model Congress since her freshman year, first as a junior staffer and most recently as an Executive Assistant to the Speaker of the House.  Outside of Harvard Model Congress, Rosario works as a recruiting officer for the Undergraduate Minority Recruitment Program on campus and plays intramural volleyball for her residential house.  She enjoys taking a break from her pre-med requirements every now and then (but realistically, more than that) by watching movies with her roommates and going out to explore the Boston area.

Marc is initially from Peabody, Massachusetts (about 30 minutes north of the conference location in Boston), and he certainly has the Boston accent to prove it.  He went to Malden Catholic High School (hopefully some of you know it) and is currently a senior at Harvard, living in the beautiful Winthrop House (former home of JFK…enough said).  He is an Economics concentrator with a secondary field in English.  In his spare time, he enjoys lifting weights, playing sports, and watching the ever-masculine television shows of One Tree Hill, 90210, and Vampire Diaries (he had to cut Gossip Girl from that list; the show was just getting ridiculous).

As we begin to prepare for this year’s conference, please keep in mind how important it is to be as prepared as possible.  We recommend that you closely read the briefings and begin thinking about what you will do with your role.  We would like everyone to not only participate fully during the conference but also to have a positive experience!

Once again, welcome to Harvard Model Congress 2012!  We look forward to meeting you!

Best,

Rosario Santillana
