Welcome to the House Committee on Agriculture! You are lucky to be serving on one of the most important committees in Congress, which is in charge of creating federal agriculture policy. We are both very excited to get to know you all during the conference, and we’d like to take this opportunity to briefly introduce ourselves.
Eric is a senior at Harvard, studying economics and government. This is his second year with Harvard Model Congress. Eric grew up near Cleveland, Ohio and is a big fan of the Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers. Eric spent two summers in Washington, D.C. and loves American politics. Outside of HMC, he writes for the sports section of The Harvard Crimson and teaches civics to middle school students in Boston-area schools. Ever the TV buff, Eric has often been seen watching The West Wing, Lost, How I Met Your Mother, 24, Alias, Boston Legal, Heroes, Who’s Line Is It Anyway?, The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report. Eric also loves to read Dan Brown, George Orwell, JK Rowling, and listening to the Dave Matthews Band, Matchbox Twenty, and Rascal Flatts.
Afoma is a junior at Harvard, studying Chemistry and English. Afoma grew up in Augusta, Georgia, home of the Master’s Golf Tournament. Outside of HMC, Afoma writes for The Harvard Crimson and researches in chemistry and biology. This is her second year with Harvard Model Congress and her first year as a maverick senior staffer. She blindly hopes to win “rookie of the year” for the second year in a row. Her hobbies include laughing, sleeping, jokes, Peru, reading, swimming, and having “fun, fun, fun, fun” wherever she goes.
We are really looking forward to the conference, and we hope you are too! Be sure to read through your briefings carefully and review your role assignment. We want to have lively discussions when we get to the conference, and we’re counting on you to prepare! Please feel free to email us in the meantime if you have any questions. We can’t wait to meet you!
Sincerely,
