Dear District Court Delegates,
Welcome to Harvard Model Congress 2016! Our names are Leni Hirsch, Jennifer Li, and Camille Rekhson, and we look forward to chairing District Court this year.
As a member of this committee, you will have the opportunity to learn how the federal courts operate, while at the same time, sharpen your thinking and speaking skills as you argue to defend, prosecute, or sue a group of fictional characters. Moreover, you will be working with us and dozens of other talented students who are passionate about the law and issues that interest you.
In District Court this year, you will have the opportunity to work with topics including a case against a mother after the mysterious disappearance of her son; the prosecution of a senator who is convicted of orchestrating financial fraud, hiring a hitman, and other cover-ups as he ascended to power at the Capitol; and finally, a case in which a tenant is controversially evicted, and you must determine the extent to which illegal discrimination played a role.
Beyond District Court at HMC, you will gain the opportunity to meet fellow delegates from all over the country and even the world. We hope that with them, you will be able to learn from a diverse group of opinions and backgrounds.
It is our role as your HMC chairs to ensure that you have both an exciting and stimulating conference. So, if you have any questions, please feel free to send us an email. We are here to help you throughout this process to gain the most from your HMC experience!
